Not only does it augment professional qualification of an individual but also helps in building a good network that can help in gaining great technical jobs. Apart from jobs, pursuing M. Tech also helps in building research orientation among the students where they can carry out their individual or group research and enhance the field of knowledge. For its professional and research scope, M. tech is definitely a pursuing field and there are lakhs of students in India who pursue it wholeheartedly. While decades ago, M. Tech was only limited to the basic or pure engineering such as mechanical and civil, in the recent years it has extended to computer science, electrical and electronics and communications too. Among these, M. Tech in Materials Science has been gaining a lot of popularity among aspiring students from the past few years. The reasons include growth in fabrication, manufacturing in the country, spurting of technology start-ups and investment of foreign companies in various industries.
There are many colleges that offer M. Tech in Material Science Engineering in Delhi and NCR. JIIT is one of the leading private universities that offer this course. The Department of Physics and Material Science Engineering in JIIT Noida is reputed with some eminent faculty members. Also, the course curriculum of M Tech is strong that it attracts students who aspire to do M tech in Materials Science. As compared to other fields of M Tech such as Computer Science, or M tech in ECE, Material Science is less popular. The reason is overall trend in the country and job prospects.
The placement is average in JIIT. However, after doing M. Tech there are many career options. First and foremost career option is research. Many students after successfully completing M Tech in Materials Science go for further research. They either join a research institute or a research group in any leading university or continue with their research. Second, students have an option of joining any private firm which is into manufacturing of products that require in depth of knowledge of materials. The package is attractive and the job profile is very fascinating for students in M Tech. Third option with the students here are to enrol in for Ph D. This is also a very good line of work as students like to dedicate themselves in research and pursue their doctoral degree. Fourth is a few students after doing M Tech in material Science open their own startup and work in this field and contribute directly to the industry.
